We're excited to welcome you to the Qubic Madrid Hackathon on March 22-23, 2025!

To ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable experience, here's some essential information to know before you go:

Event Details:

  • Dates: Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23, 2025​
  • Venue: 42 Madrid, Fundación Telefónica​
  • Address: Calle de la Ciudad de los Ángeles, 25, 28041 Madrid, Spain​
  • Registration Opens: 8:30 AM on March 22, 2025​

Arrival Recommendations:

If you're traveling from out of town, we recommend arriving in Madrid by March 21 to ensure you're rested and ready for the event. This will allow you to register promptly at 8:30 AM on March 22.​

Venue Directions:

  • From Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD):

    • By Metro: Take Line 8 to "Nuevos Ministerios." Transfer to Line 10 towards "Puerta del Sur" and alight at "Usera." From there, it's a short taxi or bus ride to the venue.​
    • By Taxi: A direct taxi ride from the airport to the venue takes approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.​

  • From Atocha Train Station:

    • By Bus: Take Bus 78 from "Estación de Atocha" towards "Barrio de San Fermín" and alight at "Ciudad de los Ángeles - Gran Avenida." The venue is a short walk from there.​
    • By Taxi: A taxi ride from Atocha to the venue takes about 15 minutes.​

Parking Information:

Limited parking is available at the venue. We encourage the use of public transportation or ride-sharing services to reach the event.​

Team Formation:

If you haven't joined a team yet, don't worry! We'll host a "speed dating" session during the event to help participants form teams and collaborate effectively.​

What to Bring:

  • A valid government photo ID for registration​
  • Your laptop and any necessary chargers​
  • Personal items for comfort during the hackathon​

Telefónica Rules for Hackers

The Web3 Qubic & VOTTUN Hackathon will take place at 42 Madrid Fundación Telefónica, located at:
Ronda de la Comunicación S/N - Floors 1 & 2 - North Building 3, Distrito Telefónica.

General Rules & Facility Use:
  • Participants may use all campus facilities, except for the clusters on floors 1 and 2.

  • Participants must bring and use their own equipment. The use of campus computers is not permitted.

  • The campus provides bunk beds and showers, which are available for participants.

Common Area Rules:
  • All participants must be properly identified, wearing their personal ID badge in a visible place at all times.

  • The consumption of any type of drugs is strictly prohibited.

  • Alcohol consumption is also prohibited in all areas of the venue.

  • If using sustainable transport such as scooters or bicycles, they must be left in the designated parking areas. Riding these vehicles inside Distrito Telefónica is not allowed.

  • Eating and drinking are only allowed in designated areas, which include:

    • The vending machine areas on both floors (including the long tables on the second floor).

    • Studio 42.

    • Eating is not allowed in carpeted areas.

  • Participants must keep common areas clean and must not leave food, napkins, bottles, or other waste behind.

  • Rubbish must be disposed of in the designated bins.

  • Wearing shoes while in the bunk beds is not allowed.

Please follow these rules to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Normas de Telefónica para Hackers

El Hackathon Web3 Qubic y VOTTUN se desarrollará en las instalaciones de 42 MADRID FUNDACIÓN TELEFÓNICA | RONDA DE LA COMUNICACIÓN S/N - PLANTAS 1 y 2 - EDIFICIO NORTE 3, DISTRITO TELEFÓNICA.

Se podrán utilizar todas las instalaciones del campus, con excepción de los clusters de las plantas 1 y 2. Los participantes deberán utilizar sus propios equipos. No está permitido el uso de los ordenadores del campus.

El campus cuenta con literas y duchas que podrán ser utilizadas por los participantes.

El uso de las zonas comunes se rige por las siguientes normas:

  • Todas las personas deben estar correctamente identificadas, llevando la “tarjeta de identificación personal” en un lugar visible.

  • Está totalmente prohibido el consumo de cualquier tipo de sustancia estupefaciente.

  • Está también prohibido el consumo de alcohol en todas las instalaciones.

  • En caso de utilizar medios de transporte sostenible, tales como patinetes, bicicletas, etc., éstos deben dejarse en los lugares habilitados para tal uso. Además, no está permitida la circulación con dichos vehículos por el interior de Distrito Telefónica.

  • No está permitido comer y beber en las zonas no habilitadas para hacerlo, siendo las zonas habilitadas: zona vending de ambas plantas (contando con las mesas alargadas de la segunda planta), y Studio 42. No se permite comer en zonas con moqueta.

  • No está permitido ensuciar las zonas comunes, así como dejar restos de comida, servilletas, botellas u otros residuos.

  • No está permitido dejar la basura fuera de los cubos habilitados para ello

  • No está permitido estar en las literas con calzado puesto.

Hackathon FAQs

What is a hackathon? A hackathon is a social coding event where programmers, designers, and developers collaborate to solve a problem and compete for cash prizes. It is an intense, time-limited competition where teams work to create functional solutions
Who can participate? Are there any prerequisites? Anyone can participate. While coding experience is beneficial, teams also need presenters, designers, and strategists with strong problem-solving skills
Can I participate remotely? No, this event is fully on-site in Madrid
Is there an age requirement? Participants must be at least 18 years old. ID verification will be required at registration
Do I need a team? Teams of three to five people are required. If you do not have a team, the event organizers will assign you to one
What skills do I need?

During registration, participants must select a role:

  • Developer
  • Designer
  • Business Strategist

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is recommended, but prior job experience is not required

How much does it cost? Participation is free
Do I need to bring my own computer? Yes, computers are not provided. Participants must bring their own laptop
Can I stay overnight? Yes, there will be a designated area with bunk beds for participants who wish to stay overnight
Will food be provided? Yes, food and beverages will be available throughout the event
What challenges will we be solving? The challenge details will be announced shortly before the event. Participants should expect to work on blockchain, AI, IoT, and digital transformation projects
How will projects be judged? Teams will present their solutions in a preliminary round where mentors and staff will provide feedback. Selected projects will advance to the final judging round at the award ceremony
Who will be judging? The judging panel will include industry experts, including engineers, AI scientists, and blockchain specialists. The full panel will be announced closer to the event date
Who owns the work created during the hackathon? The organizers and sponsors do not claim ownership of any submitted projects. Participants retain full rights to their work
Will winners get a job or contract? Winners do not automatically receive a job offer. However, those awarded an incubation prize will have the opportunity to further develop their project with funding and strategic support
Are there other upcoming hackathons? Qubic is planning additional events in other locations. More details will be shared in the future
What programming languages will be used? Java, Python, or C++ are recommended. A developer toolkit, including testnet access, will be provided
